I must give my highest praises to “Around the World in Eighty Days” for its characters are very much believable and their actions follow in line with their objectives. The stoic, seasoned veteran Phileas Fogg, the naïve, youth-spirited Passepartout, the despicable yet honorable Fix: All characters that play a role in developing a realistic world to immerse oneself in. The book does allow for some unrealistic notions, such as near-death escapes and acts of grand heroism to keep the book refreshing and full of action to the reader. Overall, while a pleasant story and insightful look into Mr. Fogg’s journey across the world, it almost seems a bit sad to see the bright world in Passepartout’s point of view cut short by the imposed time schedule.
