A literary classic it sure is. An accurate representation of Hemingway’s “Iceberg Theory” it sure is. An enjoyable great read…it sure is not. The characters of the book are constantly inebriated and I constantly question their livers’ functions. While this classic of the Lost Generation shines with authenticity in outlining the wandering and decadence of American expatriates carelessly living in France, that portrayal nauseates the reader over 222 pages in a tale stitched with irrelevance and banality.
